Something Wrong with Temp?

Last night and this morning I noticed that my thermometer I bought and calibrated was showing about 99*.

I calibrated it again just to be sure and it didn't do right.

I had to return the hygrometer I got anyway so I bought a dual thermometer/hygrometer. Put it in the incubator and let it sit for a bit. The humidity is reading 52% (incubator reading at around 42%) and the thermometer is reading at 99*. The incubator is reading at 100* as I upped it .5 degrees this morning to be safe.

But I'm thinking it's not heating properly. Now, it's not been as hot outside as it had been the first few days, while it's definitely warmer inside than most people like it, I'm ok in shorts and a tank top and the ceiling fan on. I don't know if I should put the incubator in a box or something or try and turn the temp up.

What do y'all think?

My hovabator thermostat says 100* but my 2 trusted thermometers say it's closer to 99.2 I would trust my calibrated thermometers and hygrometers more than what the incubator came with.

Yeah. I just upped the temp to 100.5. Hopefully that works. I'm a little worried the eggs may be a bit messed up due to the temp being at 99 over night and then my having to constantly open the dump thing to change temp.

The foam pad to keep moisture out of the controls interferes with the + button, no matter how tightly I screw the thing back together so if I need to mess with temp I have to open it up, unscrew it, then up the temp and put it all back together.

it should be ok. being too cold for a little while is better than too hot. they might be a little late.

I agree..too high of temps are detrimental, too liw causes late hatch...the thermostat on the incubator is really just for reference. Trust your calibrated. I did a safe 99-100 throughout n had 90% hatch rate

*sigh* I wish I could figure out what was going on. I get back from picking my son up and my thermometer is reading 101.7.

I turned it back down to 99.5. I could tell the thing was actually putting out heat, whereas before it was air that seemed cool, not warm. We will see.

This is frustrating.

forced air? sounds like forced air, but just double checking. once your temperature stabilizes. if it's lower than you like try adjusting it by 0.1 degree and give it time to get to where it's stable again before you move it again. if the thermostat is off. .1 degree could be more than that in reality.

Yes it's forced air but I can't move the temp by 0.1 degree. It goes by 0.5. :/

oh. :/ ok. too high is worse than too low. so I guess you're kinda stuck with the lower setting.
