Hi, I'm new to the chicken world.

I got this Rhode Island Red last year, she is about 3 years old.
A few weeks ago I noticed her wing feathers look like this:

She did molt this winter- are her feathers still growing in, or is there something else going on? I'm also wondering why some of the feathers are black.

speaking of feathers and wings i have a white leghorn that was holding her wing out from her side just like the tip of her wing i think it was her left wing it is really ht out here now i just noticed it a few hours ago anyone have any clue what is wrong with her? here is pic it also looked like she had some new feathers on the tip any clue what is wrong?

has she been fighting?

I know turkeys will get like that if they try to fight each other through chain link fence.

I have not seen her fighting. There is only one other adult hen, and 4 pullets. She is the boss of the flock.
What are feather mites?
I think she might have had her wings clipped before we got her, could it be a botched job?

when i got a better look by enlarging the picture i saw something different. It looks as though something has been chewing on her wings.
