But, not because they aren't laying. I hate the broody attacks - I don't put up with it from a rooster - why a hen? I know she is in "defend my babies mode". I got her and her sister about a month and a half ago. She had no chicks. I get them home and sister started laying eggs almost right away, but not this girl. I got a few chicks from Orschelins to add to the flock. I got 2 EE hens and a roo from Craigslist. She attacks both hens anytime they try to eat (all food belongs to her and "her" chicks - even if they are not eating it and are clear across the coop). And, today when I moved everyone into the "new bigger, better coop" I had to pick up the chicks to bring them into the new place. What did I get for my efforts at being a chicken lover and giving them better accommodations....pecks and wing beatings. She didn't peck or wing beat me when I gathered HER up, just when I brought the chicks in and she saw them in my hands - these aren't tinies either - they are fully feathered out. Ok, I know there is nothing cuter than a broody with babies under wing, but she doesn't even let them under her - she just is grouchy and mean to everyone who looks at them!!!!

God forbid she actually goes borrdy again some day and hatches out HER OWN chicks - what will she be like then?!?!?!

I HATED my two broodies. I have 5 full grown hens and two of them aren't the friendliest ones in the world. Of course, they were the ones to go broody. I nicknamed one of them Gremlin. I'd say "DH, please go kick the gremlin off the nest". Mine were pure evil and made terrible evil noises if another chicken even came in contact with it. Or ate NEXT to it. I would kick them out of the nest and they'd proceed to sit on the ground and fluff up like the wet ground was the nest. They didn't even have eggs, they were imaginary!!

Oh and the best part. The other chickens were terrified of them so they refused to lay in any of my three nest boxes and opted to lay on the floor. DH told me one day when I came out in the garden that he had simply pushed her off the nest and into the coop. The darn thing was so dumb that it laid fluffed up on NOTHING with three eggs on the floor several inches away from it. Glad I broke mine yesterday. Them and their broody poops, bites, growls, meanness in general

Do you spend a lot of time with your chickens? I know everyone can't, but when I feed my chickens, I give the broody hens a little more food and keep the other chickens away from them while they are eating. Also if you feed them close to you it might help her get use to you being around her.

If your chicken was mine, I would put her in her own little cage for a few days to let her calm down.
If she goes broody again, I would separate her from the rest of the chickens. Sounds like she's getting stressed to me.
