There is a picture of a beautiful cottage style coop built on an above ground pool deck. The pool is no longer there, and the hole it left made for a great pen for the animals. I have searched and searched and cannot find that thread or the photo. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have no idea unfortunately but it sounds wonderful. I hope you find it

The coop was like a story-book land house... absolutely beautiful... and now I can't find it.

Thanks to anyone who knows what I am talking about.

Very intriguing idea, and I hope you find it to share with us, too.

Meanwhile, this may give you some ideas:

http://gardenpool.org/

Their "garden pool" made from an old swimming pool provides:

* solar power – harnessing and storing the sun’s energy
* water conservation – using less water and recycling waste water
* poultry farming – raising chickens
* aquaculture – raising tilapia fish
* hydroponic gardening – growing fruits, veggies, & herbs without soil
* organic horticulture – using natural methods to control garden pests
* aquaponics – the symbiotic cultivation of produce and fish in a recirculating hydroponic environment
* biofiltration – natural water filtration method using biochemistry and duckweed

Just find a cottage-style coop you like and work it into their design.

Oh, and I also found this site where the first entry says: "He is trying to pull together a little cottage garden complete with raised beds and a Victorian style chicken coop, where an old above ground swimming pool used to be."

Maybe that is what you're looking for. (The cottages are beautiful.)

Thanks, but I still can't find it. It is on BYC somewhere... and I think it was in the middle of a thread that I just happened to be going through. The story behind it was over the winter their pool came crashing down... she was left with this deck attached to the house with a huge hole in the middle. They fenced in the the underside of the deck... built a BEAUTIFUL cottage style coop on right on the deck with a long plank down to the ground. There were chickens and goats in the pen... and people sitting on the deck with their legs hanging over looking at the animals.

It was really cool.

That was a good try, but not it. This deck was attached to the house... sliding glass doors to the deck and the pool was completely surrounded by the decks. You can walk the entire way around and look down at the animals.

I will keep looking...

Thanks.

Way to go, Katz!
