What's your budget? Most of the things I'm going to recommend are entry-level DSLR/mirrorless setups for someone who's looking to develop photography as a hobby. They're not necessarily cheap. Several hundred dollars in the US market, not sure in the AUS market but I'd expect more.I don't yet have my photo for today but I do have a question for any photographers following along... This whole thing has gotten me thinking about finally investing in a camera in a few months or something, after all I still have 350+ photos to take this yearBut I don't do tech or anything similar so does anyone have an pointers or suggestions for a beginner looking for a decent camera to use for hobby? Please, if you can, explain the simplest as you can, cause I struggle with comprehension sometimes

Honestly, any modern cell phone is as good as an inexpensive point-and-shoot today. To step up from that you're going to be looking at a DSLR or a mirrorless camera. At that point you have to decide if you want to put the time and money into it as a hobby. Lacy made some good suggestions, among them finding a good DSLR refurb on the used market. 2-3 generation old gear is every bit as good as modern kit, just less shiny features. it's also typically a lot cheaper.

Do you have any tips for taking photos with phones? I know literally nothing about settings and all that so doesn't surprise me if it's user error
This is the best phone camera I've ever owned
