SONG OF THE MOON--A Wolf RP

Ghost's ice blue eyes blinked open slowly, his muscles ached from a blur of distorted memories which were struggling to surface amidst the haze of pain and worry clouding his mind. He got to his paws shakily, feeling a jolt of pain strike up his left hind leg, but he ignored it; fighting to keep his balance and contemplate his surroundings. His steps were slow and weak, his stomach rumbled forebodingly. His ears pricked foreword at the comforting sound of running water, his determination brought him to a small brook bubbling softly in the fading light. His tongue lapped gratefully at the cool, clean water, it seemed to revive at least a portion of his strength, however small. Ghost was well aware he needed to hunt and eat, amongst the other things confusing the already frustratingly dim memories filling his mind, he could not remember the last time he had eaten, but from the persistent growling of his belly he could guess it had been some time. Instinct seemed to drive away the pain in his leg for a time as he deciphered the scents flowing to his nose on the wind, through the strong aura of pine sap his senses perked at the faint, but unmistakable scent of rabbit. The scent led him to a dense pile of brush surrounded by thick undergrowth. He lowered his head slightly, spotting a small patch of dusky brown fur through a small window in the covering of ferns. Ghost knew he had one chance to perfectly proportion his attack before the rabbit bolted. He prepared to make the kill, doing his best to evenly balance his weight even with his injured leg. His eyes locked, ears focused, Ghost shot forward with just enough momentum to bring his jaws squarely around the rabbits neck. Though not the largest meal, the prey was enough to quiet the dissatisfaction of his stomach, for now at least. As Ghost's piercing eyes watched the setting sun, he knew the fierceness of the wild would either break him or make him stronger, and one thing he knew for sure, he was a long ways away from home and the pack....
(I'm backtracking just a bit to catch up on the story line, but I'll have my characters reunite with the pack soon.)
The pelt of a massive white wolf stalked through the forest, crossing into pack territory. This is it. Ghost thought. How many things have changed? What am I to expect..... These thoughts shadowed his mind as he padded further into the heart of pack territory.

“Ghost! You’re alive!” Star hurried up to the Alpha, ears flattened and head lowered slightly in submission.
