“Hey, calm down, it’s alright,” she assured him gently. “I couldn’t have escaped without Wild. She found a place where we could dig, and she made the hole while I kept watch. After that I just used the sun and led us home while Wild distracted those weird creatures whenever we came across them.”

Comet looked around camp and decided to put all this joyful energy to good use. “The pack must eat!” She raised her voice in an authoritive howl above the buzz of excitement. “Flower, you will be primary hunter. Cedar and Star, you two shall be secondary hunters. Ice, you are key hunter.”
Cocking her head for a moment she said, “Star, I do recognize you recently got back from a hard journey. Are you well enough to be a secondary hunter?”

Ice pressed against her and licked her cheek. "I'm just happy you're home. And I'm happy Wild was able to find you before ot was too late."

Flower nodded.

Ice wagged his tail. He'd never been key hunter before! Today, I shall earn my place in the pack. He decided. Maybe Comet will decide to make me an upper mid-ranker! No, I'm not going to get my hopes up...

Star snorted with amusement. “More like I ran into her. Literally.” She pressed back happily. “But I’m glad too. I’m glad everyone is safe.”

“I’m well enough to do anything for the pack,” she assured her leader, happy to be chosen for the hunt.

Ice laughed. "Either way, I'm glad you found your way back." He licked her ear then laid back down. "I wonder why Comet chose me to be key hunter..." he wondered aloud
