Hi ... I don't actually have any chickens yet. We're in the planning stage and are trying to decide on a coop. We'll have 4 hens. I haven't raised chickens since I was a kid, so I'm a newbie. It looks like BackYardChickens will be a good resource to get started.

I am SO pleased to read you are doing your homework by joining BYC and planning a coop BEFORE you get chickens! So many folks get chicks and then whoops! what do they do with 'em???

BYC is THE place for chicken-minded folks. I learned so much here, and had fun doing so. I learned how to prevent mistakes and I also learned how to fix mistakes I made before I learned enough not to make 'em. This is a wonderful community and you will really enjoy it.
