You need to have a properly designed and sized coop nearly finished before you order chicks. They grow shockingly fast and create a huge mess if brooded in the house. It's far better to brood in the coop. And DO NOT, under any circumstances, get a little coop kit from a farm store or online that looks so cute and says "it will hold 8 chickens!" because the fact of the matter is, it won't be suitable for 2. Do lots of research into what the housing requirements are for chickens and they and you will be much happier for it.
