Howdy!

I'm Tillie and I'm from Texas. I'm blessed beyond words and homeschooled, giving me plenty of time for fun country stuff. Very soon I'll be getting some French Black Copper Marans (FBCM, do y'all use short versions mostly?) and a Silkie. Who knows where it'll go from there! I have already learned so much from reading on here and can't wait to learn more!

consider get ting 2 or more silkies - they like to pile up together on the floor - silkies don't fly so don't use a roost. Also other chicks tend to pick on them due to their different appearance.

Thanks for the advice. I thought maybe I'd put a log on the ground for the Silkies if they wanted to be like the others

? I'm trying to go for chickens that get along well with other kinds and have heard the Black Copper Marans are pretty sweet... Will it help that I'll be raising them all together as chicks? Thanks again!

It should give them a bit more time to get used to each other. But they do fight as chicks as well.
