Hey, all! I’ve got two female buff Orpingtons, and found this on one of their feet today. Both seem sleepier than usual and I’m worried sick about them. Please, if anyone knows what’s going on, your help would be appreciated. Current theories are bumblefoot or urea burns?

Appears to be bumblefoot (pododermatitis), but at a fairly early stage, and shouldn't be hard to treat. I would try soaking her foot in either an Epsom salt mixture, or an antiseptic mixture, and firmly massage the area. After some time, the area should become tender, where you can pull the scab off the top, and squeeze out any caseous material or puss. If that works, afterwards, soak the foot for a while, and apply an antibacterial ointment. The duck will need to be housed on clean grounds thereafter, or subsequent infection will reoccur. If that's not possible, a bandage would be indicated for protection of the open sore.
