Lastnight I found my hen with blood on her back end. Looks like the skin was torn under the vent tords the right and left. I'm not sure what happened. I was wondering if you might be able to help me with any idea. I did attach some picture. as long as I have had chickens I have never had this happen. Thank you in advance.

Did you ever get these sores figured out? By your description, it sounds like there is some pecking going on. There are two main causes for pecking; low protein diet or overcrowding.

If it's possibly a protein issue, you can try feeding treats like canned catfood, tuna in water, scrambled eggs, or put them on a higher protein feed if they're on layer. Layer feed is usually around 16% protein and all-flock is generally 18%-20%.

If overcrowding is possible, it's recommended that each chicken has 4 sq feet of room in their coop, and 10-15 sq feet of room each in their run.

To post pictures, what device are you using as there are a couple of ways to post your pictures here. One is to use the Attach files button at the bottom of your reply.
