We have just adopted 5 week old booted bantams. They have developed sores on their faces that seem to be getting bigger and more red. We treated them for mites yesterday as they have mites but are worried that this may not be caused by the mites.

We are in South Africa, so not tropical climate.

Does anyone have experience with sores that look like this?

That really looks like fowl pox especially the raised bumps in the second picture. It is spread by mosquitoes, and the virus usually lasts around 3 weeks. Do not disturb the scabs as that can spread the virus. Welcome to BYC.
