The other day I posted sores on feet. I had three answers and they said bumble feet. Today I don't think it is because of the following reasons. The sores are on the top of the feet and I had a chick that had a sore on its comb. The sores are scabbed over not pussey. I talked to a breeder and she thought it was some kind of a insect bite. Any other ideas. Help would be appreciated.

I thought about fowl pox also, I've dealt with it before, but it never got on their feet. I think it's been too cold for mosquitos, that's the normal means of transmission. Infected wild birds can spread the virus as well. Time heals with dry fowl pox, wet fowl pox is a different story though.

Its my understanding that px is only on the soft tissue. The chicks are about 5 weeks old. What about spiders????????

Do you have spiders where you keep your chicks? I'd do a thorough inspection if I were you and eliminate them. Yes,spiders can bite chicks. You said one had a sore on the comb. If it was as spider bite, the bite site would turn black due to the spiders venom necrotising the fleshy comb. Do you see that happening? If not it may not be a spider. Sorry,I'm at a loss for suggestions.

I think it might be spiders, the area does turn black and the chicks get really sick. Makes since to me that the spider would seek the heat from the heat lamps and in turn crawl on the chicks and bite them. I plan on moving them today and spraying the shed. Hope this takes care of the problem. Thank you all for your help.
