I'm kind of new to the site. But had to share a photo of my newly hatched Columbian Marans and black/birchen Marans. They hatched during the Super Bowl, LOL Can you guess what I was watching?

Both colors I have made myself from scratch and have been working on the Columbian Marans for going on 7 years. The black birchen are F2s bred from my old cuckoo line. I've had since 2000. Both have the blue gene in the flocks. But can't tell in the Columbian until they feather. If any are blues...

Anyway, every hatch is like the first. It never gets old.

It's nice to have furry babies on such a miserable cold Feb. day in NW Pa. The first of the season.

Anyone else expecting chicks or have new hatchlings?

We're glad to have you.

Good luck with your new chicks! They are very cute.

I have 9 Wyandotte eggs in an incubator right now, due to hatch the day before Valentines Day.

Aww....what cute babies!! I think I would much rather stare into the hatcher or brooder instead of watch the super bowl.

They are adorable!!!

And you are right....hatching never gets old. Watching an egg turn into a tiny life. How can this not warm the heart!

As for others hatching, stop by our Hatch A Long threads. Lots of members hatching and you can even join in the fun if you have another hatch you will be getting started!!.....https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/16184/hatch-a-longs

Enjoy all these cutie pies and make yourself at home here. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask. Welcome to our flock!
