My chicken has been sick. Very lethargic, runny, smelly green diarrhea, droopy wings. Hardly any movement. Eyes are clear though. Her crop has had stuff in it when she wakes in the morning. It is like she isnt digesting anything. I have been treating by massaging her crop and feeding olive oil by dropper. She has a comb that started to turn blue and now is almost all a blueish tint. This has been going on for 2 1/2 days now. I started her on 20% amprol powder, administered by dropper this morning. I have tetracycline and with go looking for some of the blackhead medicine this afternoon. She has been so healthy this last 9 months. Her coop mates are all extremely healthy and vigourous. Even the 9 month old cornish cross we kept as a pet and is now 18 pounds. I do not know what to do. Can I give her all the meds at the same time or is that grren smelly poop and cyanotic comb a clue as to what I should give her. She is not eggbound, checked that first off. I really need some help folks.

Have you seen our poop chart? (graphic pics) This is about the only source I have that might help explain the green poop.

The cyanotic comb is a symptom of insufficient blood getting to the comb, for whatever reason. Her heart could be failing. She could be an internal layer, especially if her abdomen is swollen. Blackhead would be very unusual. She could have any number of things -- cancer, an autoimmune disease, or many other things. The amprolium is pretty well harmless and cocci is a possibility, so I would continue that. Has she ever been wormed? With what, and when? The fact that the others seem healthy makes me wonder if she might have eaten something she shouldn't have. Just guesses and thoughts, unfortunately.

Here are a couple more links that might help.

You need to bring her in and get her warm. Then she needs to be properly hydrated *before* being fed. Birds should be hydrated at 30ml/kg every 6-8 hours.

Not digesting and blue comb can mean the the death process has started.

for you. Green poop often means that they haven't been eating.
