Hi guys.
I am in need of some assistance here. So I have one aseel hen who has been sitting on eggs for 21 days now. From this community I learnt about candling and tried for the first time on my broody mama. She had 20 eggs and I candled them on 18th day and found 7 infertile eggs. May be they were old or had some other issue. My problem is it’s 21st Day today and there has not been a single pip from those eggs. I am so worried. Did it happen because I moved the eggs on 18th day? I have had broody hatchings before and they all started to get hatch on 19th day in March. What shall I do ? Also can I place my hen box in the sun ? Does that help in anyway in hatching process ?

Leave your hen alone ... 21 days is the norm and every set is different due to ambient temps and Nature it's self. When you candled on the 18th day, of the 13 viable eggs what did you see?

21 day count starts 24hrs after the hen sets. Give them at least 2 more days, then candle again. Can you take pictures?
Good Morning .
When I candled them I saw most of the eggs were dark and only air sack area visible. Some were even hard to see as they were totally black ... I have seen pictures of candling here on this website and those were exactly the same. Like fully developed chicks. I haven’t had Aseel eggs hatching before so am not sure if this is the reason or something else has happened.

I agree - quit messing with them. Either they'll hatch or they won't, at this point. While 21 days is the average, sometimes things cause a delay in hatching.

Were all the eggs set under her at the same time? Did they all show the same stages of development when candled? If not, you could run into trouble with a staggered hatch.

Hi. Yes all the eggs were sat under her at the same time. I candled them just once on day 18. They all had same growth. I have given my hen a separate space away from noise and people and am not bothering her. Just she got usual break everyday for food and water

I don't know Aseel - are they a larger bird?
My Hen which is hatching she is average size bird. She is type of Aseel hen. I will post a picture of her with my ro. My other hen is relatively large and more aggressive broody. I am sorry I don’t have a very clear picture. I ll post it later.

If you only candled them this one time and the hen is back setting well, I doubt you did anything detrimental to the eggs. Just let things be and nature will take its course. Keep us posted! :)
