SOS Umbilical Membrane large attachment

I have 2 new hatchlings really struggling - this membrane and umbilical is attached and its rather large - is there anything I can do about this so its not so much weight dragging behind and they are trying to move around? Is there anything I can do to give them a shot at surviving, other than just hoping for the best, they haven't moved much his hatch
