Probably one of the most potentially helpful post that just turned into several pages of 'I can't get that time back in my life'..Thank you folks who did bother to suggest something..and honestly was it that hard to sense the 'sarcastic' here?

I've been spending a great deal of time researching some sound dampening methods for my coop and run with in reason of course and nothing immoral or inhumane. So far been reading up on the direction the coop/run is point, what materials absorb sound the best and affordable. Not so concerned about the coop as I want to be able to hear something if they have some kind of emergency, but more so during the day when my rooster in out in the run. Not trying to mute him as he's a rooster and that's what he does, just trying to take his screaming banshee howl down a few decibels. He is literally 20 feet from my bedroom window and with my windows closed, all I hear is a faint crow. If you go to my parents house next door ( a few hundred feet away), it's like he is in my pocket. Thinking it has something to to with the landscape and direction the sound travels. I'll keep everyone updated to my findings so maybe that information can help some of you guys and gals.I have two chickens left from my 5 chicks and one turns out to be a rooster. I want to keep him but at 2 months he starting to crow, sort of. We live in the city and don't know what to do. I want to keep the rooster.

I need to fight city hall. Do chickens carry more diseases than dogs and cats? What can i do with these people who have 5 or 6 dogs but think it wrong for me to have two chickens? I live in a city, that not chicken friendly.
You have not discussed what the legal options are available to protect you from neighbor retribution. Are your local laws against having roosters? Are you sound proofing bc the neighbor have complained? Are you sound proofing to help insulate too or sound proof bc they are that loud and bothering you? Another thing is have you gone to the neighbor first and asked them how they feel about your roosters and just talk and be friendly and casually ask if it bothers them if it did not come up in the conversation. Being truthful and up front at times seems the best route instead of assuming what another person feels or thinks. Offer them some eggs or when they start coming. Being friendly and honest and the work is courteous and NICE.
Your construction of the coop and the sleeper. Have you sealed all the cracks and around windows? Do you leave the sleeper open at night so the flock has access to both the sleeper and down the ladder into a free area out in the open? If so you can force them to be quieter by not allowing them as much light in the am. Your vents can be shielded without taking the air flow away. Do not allow them out of the sleeper until you get up and let them out later.
Your post doesn't go into to much detail but there are always solutions to issues by working on them a bit. Be Nice and it will work itself out.
