Sour Crop Regression?

Hi everyone! We have a hen who has sour crop. We restricted food and water for 12 hours as soon as we figured out what it was, got monistat and started dosing her with that and ACV. She also has been isolated this whole time. We continued giving her the ACV straight for 2 days- twice a day and then added it to her water. We did also have to vomit her a couple of times. After the 12 hours, we began feeding her scrambled egg and some Greek yogurt (but she hardly touches the yogurt). She gobbled up the egg and began seeming better (wanting to be more active - less lethargic and her crop was going down). She also had diarrhea with some green in it a few times after eating.

We are now on day 5 and her crop still is not fully empty (still a little squishy-like a small water balloon) but nothing like it was. BUT she stopped eating all together 2 days ago. Not interested in any scrambled egg. The only thing she is okay with are meal worms and only a couple. She is so skinny and seems to be regressing. Her lethargy is coming back, she is disinterested in food, and seems to be self isolating from the flock when we let her out (supervised).

any advice on next steps would be so helpful!

Have you been giving her the monistat twice a day this whole time?
Try giving her plain water or water with electrolytes, see if she will drink. She may not be liking the ACV.

Was she laying eggs prior to this? Any bloat or fluid in the abdomen?
A lot of times a crop problem is a symptom of an underlying condition (reproductive disorders, worms, coccidiosis, infection, etc.).

Yes, monistat has been given 2x a day the whole time. 7 days will be this Sunday.

Her egg laying had decreased over the past few months. It went from daily to maybe 2-3 eggs a week. However, we have had her and the other hens we got with her for 2.5 years (all golden comets) and all of their production has decreased about the same.

No bloat or fluid in the abdomen.

I read your article and that has amazing information. Thank you for posting that here. I will try to the crop bra too. The coconut oil won’t hurt to try in case there is something impacted, right? Even though when I feel her crop, it is just squishy.

When reintroducing regular feed, I’ve read to do this slowly. But since her crop still feels squishy, I should still wait on this, right? I’m worried about her weight also since she stopped eating the egg.

Yes, you can give the coconut oil.
I would offer her feed, you can give it dry or wet.
