1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.) 11wk old Easter Egger Pullet

2) What is the behavior, exactly. Lethargic, hunched, fluffed feathers, tail down, moving slow, isolated from flock.

3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? Came home from a 5 day vacation 3 days ago, noticed my girl was moving slow and hunched. I picked her up and noticed she was really stinky and had yellowish (potentially greenish) pasty butt. Brought her in and soaked her in an epson bath. Put some probiotics and electrolytes in her water and offered a scrambled egg and yogurt. She has barely eaten but is still drinking water. She is normally on medicated starter feed and ropa poultry with a little acv in her water. Her poops seemed like they got normal for a bit but now are yellow and white diarrhea. Her crop is small and squishy. Her weight seems to be on track with my other Easter Egger girls. She doesn’t have much of a comb so hard to tell as a new chicken mom on that but I will post a pic. She does keep moving her beak like she’s chewing occasionally or maybe she’s just swallowing? Im not sure if it’s a comfort thing or of any relevance.

4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? No

5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. No

6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. Not sure if she developed vent gleet that lead to sour crop while I was on vacation or if it’s intestinal parasites or something completely different?

7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. She’s been on ropa poultry and a little acv in her water, medicated starter feed. Currently drinking water with probiotics and electrolytes. She’s not eating much but still drinking water on her own.

8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. Currently yellow and white diarrhea.

9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? Epson soak once a day, probiotics and electrolytes in water. Offered scrambled egg and plain yogurt.

10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? If I am able to treat her at home, that would be ideal.

11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help. I will attach the picture of the first day when I found her. Her poop progression, current vent condition, comb and a q tip swab of the back of her throat.

12) Describe the housing/bedding in use I use pine shavings in a nestera penthouse coop attached to a 10x20 pergola looking run secured by galvanized metal on the bottom and hardware cloth covering the top. Their run had grass in it while I was gone on vacation, just added sand to the run.

I'd treat for Coccidiosis.

Liquid Corid dose is 2tsp or Powdered Corid Dose is 1 1/2tsp per gallon of water given for 5-7 days as the only source of drinking water.
Do not add any extra vitamins/electrolytes that contain B1(Thiamine) to food or water during the course of treatment.

Thank you!! Just to be clear, is she still okay to eat her kalmbach medicated chick feed during treatment?

Sorry spoke too soon, I’m seeing that the medicated has thiamine in it. I will pick up some kalmbach non medicated starter feed for her. Thank you, again!
All feed is going to have some vitamin B1 (Thiamine) in it.
Please note, the instructions say do not ADD and "EXTRA" supplements/vitamins during the course of treatment.

Giving the medicated feed is fine, the amount of Amprolium in feed is minute.

Thank you so much!! I really appreciate your guidance. Fingers crossed she starts feeling better! 🤞🏼🥺

You can, it won't hurt them.
Update; ran to local TSC and was able to get liquid Corid. Mixed with a gallon of water as directed. As my girl dipped her beak down to drink, she must’ve inhaled bc she came up quick sneezing, honking and coughing, spraying liquid from her beak. When she did so, it was a very sour foul odor. She now has been gasping. I stopped the Corid treatment immediately bc it spooked me. I’m not sure if she will make it through the night to be honest. Does it seem like I am dealing with coccidiosis and sour crop?? Should I continue to push forward with the Corid treatment? Thank you!

What does her crop feel like? If you detected a sour odor from what she spit up, then the crop may be sour. You can treat Sour Crop and Coccidiosis at the same time.
