Sour Crop, Very Sick Hen, Please Help

I found out that the bird vet is on maternity leave so won't be back for a while, our normal vets will look at her if we want but they probably know less than we do so we probably won't take her to the vet
Yes, you can.
Do think to mix the ACV with water, and do be careful so it doesn't get in her wind pipe.

They should sell it at stores where you buy your chickens' food...(?)
I will feed he rin the morning and I will be careful
I think they do
You are already doing a good job taking care of her.

Whatever happens, you are not at fault.

I sincerely hope your hen will get better!

Thank you for your kind words

Also...

You can get some wartermelon for your hen : if she does eat it, she probably won't eat a lot (of it)... but it will still be good for her.

If they have stopped selling watermelon in your area, then give her some other soft and hydrating fruits, such as sufficiently ripe melons and pears.
...Even bananas would work...!
I will try and get her some watermelon (they usually have it all year it is just better tasting in the summer)
When she was a baby I would give her banana and she loved it but I offered it to her yesterday and she couldn't care less

The poultry tonic is coming tomorrow so hopefully that will help her

I can do subcut fluids, do you think this might help
If you do then an ideas on how to do subcut fluids on a chicken
Me and my mum run a hedgehog rescue so we have fluids and the ability but I don't know how to in a chicken (i can do it on a hedgehog and i have done it on rabbits and i have injected my cat too but never a chicken)

Do keep giving her fruits - several times a day -, even if she does not eat any of them.

(If wasted, you can throw them after she has gone to bed in the evenings.)

If your hen is meant to live longer : once she is clean and protected from mites and lice, she will eventually eat the fruits you give her (by tiny bits, but still better than nothing).
Let her then manage her food consumption by herself.

You should also consider trying to give her wet dog food.
...That's what I gave to my Light Brahma rooster when he was dying. (He refused to drink and eat, so I had decided to give wet dog food - among other things - to him... and he loved it!
This boy, as the other one I was talking about, survived.)

Also : your hen still should have an unlimited access to her usual food.
You can mix it with food grade Diatomaceous Earth, and medicinal herbs (such as Thyme)... even some spices (such as Curcumin) if you want to.

Sorry.
I have NO idea...

She is only just a year

Sadly, her health issue could be anything...
Chickens tend to die young, and easily - especially the good laying hens...

What are all the symptoms?
Why do you have her under a heatlamp?
Has she laid recently?
How's her crop feel?
How's her droppings look?
Have you checked in her beak?
You can syringe feed her beaten eggs with vitamins to support her.
I would skip the d.e, acv, dry/fresh herbs etc, they will not help.

What are all the symptoms?
She is really skinny
She is really tired
Not eating
Mucky butt feathers
This morning she couldn't stand
I felt her tummy this morning and it felt clayie (i hope that makes sense)
Why do you have her under a heat lamp?
When I first brought her in she was cold and she is so skinny and weak she is not able to keep herself warm enough, when i first brought her in she would stand/sit next to the heat lamp but now she stand/sits under it
Has she laid recently?
I don't think she has layed recently, when I first brought her in her vent was tiny (no eggs had been layed in a while) and she has not layed the week she has been in

How's her crop feel?
This morning it feels very liquidy about the size of a satsuma
And when I massaged it their was a bad smell
How's her droppings look?
She has not been pooing much but the poo she does is slop
Have you checked in her beak?
Yes it looks normal apart from the fact she let's me look in her mouth

Okay I will try that
This morning I fed her some acv diluted in water and some honey, and she did get a bit harder to feed by the time I was done but not much harder
