So I have two new bantam pullets that I got just about 2 weeks ago. They are in quarantine in my garage. So far they look good--nice appetites, bright eyes, no signs of respiratory issues, no mites or lice. However, they have what I can only describe as sour smelling poop. It is normal looking, but it smells completely different than my other chickens' poop. At first I thought that it had something to do with what they had been eating before I got them and that it the odor would "normalize" once they had been on my feed for a while. Well, it has been a while and their poop still stinks. Is sour smelling poop a symptom of something?

As long as they don't seem impacted by it (i.e. appearing sickly), it's probably not much to worry about. I'd keep them in quarantine and de-worm them if they aren't (obviously following proper dosage for size and age). If nothing changes, its possible that their poop just has an unnatural smell to it, which is neither good nor bad. Good luck with them.
