I knew I should have written it down, but I had some older chicks (2-3 months old) shipped to me in boxes that were NOT Horizon brand and the shipper said they only cost $5 each. They were definitely poultry shipping boxes for older chicks, about the size of a cardboard cat carrier but with lots more air holes and dividers.
I will be overjoyed if any of you can give me the brand names and/or suppliers of poultry shipping boxes that are not as expensive as Horizon boxes. The cost of their boxes makes it pretty silly to spend $50+ for a box and shipping for one bird that costs much, much less than that. It doesn't make economic sense.
