I was wondering if anyone knows of a store that sells a 1 gallon heated waterer. All that I have been able to find are 3 gallons, and one that big won't fit through the door to my coop

. Also, I was considering building a heated base (if anyone else reads Backyard Poultry magazine, the one in this month's issue) made from a bundt or angel food cake pan and some light bulbs. I was wondering if the bases like this made of metal would get hot enough to burn my girls...they roost with their feet pretty close to the waterer and sometimes bump into it and I don't want anything that will burn them. Thanks!

I am also looking for some waterer plans. We live in Northern pa and it is starting to get cold. Jiff..maybe you could give me the ideas out of backyard poultry mag. We need it to be safe around bedding.
I the past i recall seeing some pretty neat ideas on this forum, but i'm unable to find them again. Any help would be great!

I have a heated dog bowl that is just under a gallon, also I have a small 1 qt heated bowl for rabbits, both work great for my chickens. They are on line and in pet stores.
