South, East, or West?

As some of you know, I'm interested in growing various (fruit bearing) plants indoors. I've been reading up on locating them near a sunny window. But I've heard many different opinions of which window to use! Some say south, others east or west. If I were to plant something that needed full sun, which direction would you say is best?

Also, I've heard opposing opinions of whether a sunny window would truly provide enough light for a fruiting cactus or dwarf tree, do you think I would need to add supplemental light through a plant light?

Thanks,

Definitely south facing. I'm assuming you're in the Northern Hemisphere...?

If you have a south facing bay window, use that.

I have used plant lights and a south facing window. Even with the light bulbs just inches above the plants, they were growing toward the window. So, it won't hurt to add plant lights, but they may lean toward the window anyway.
