What kind of feed do you feed your chickens and what feed store do you get your feed from? I'm looking for chicken feed that has enough protein and other nutrients that they need.

I'm up in north La, but do you have a Purina dealer down your way?

I have used before,it's 16% protein. Now I just use Flock Raiser,it's 20%. My chickens prefer it to the Layena.

I will have to check to see if we have any Purina's dealers down here. Is Flock Raiser the name of the feed? So, if I go in the feed store and ask for Flock Raiser, they will know what I need (that's if they have it)? Is it a Purina product? Is Layena the same as layer pellets?

chickenlittle32, where do u get your feed from? i feed my adult chickens layer pellets. i wanted to make sure that they were getting enough nutrients. i always feed the babies the starter/grower until they are about 18 weeks and then i transition them to layer pellets. i pay about $9.00 for a 50lb bag in Opelousas. so just feeding layer pellets should be sufficient? (well of course in addition to treats, bugs, grass, etc.)
