You must be close to me ! There is a chicken swap going on in madison at TSC this saturday and there will be a dog trainer there. Its from 8-1

My girlfriend works in Madison. We're up closer to Aurora/Lawrenceburg.

Their training should be while on leash - so you can give corrections at first sign of trouble., lunging at chickens, barking, attempting to chase. Even if the dog doesn't make contact it it horribly stressful to the chickens.

A strong willed dog may need a control collar to strengthen the trainers corrections.

If he has been tied up he will be wilder when he isn't. There are articles on BYC RE: training dogs

Oh yes, I'm actively working on training. Right now they're still puppies (big puppies, but puppies). The chicks are a curiosity right now. They want to lick them. When the chicks run, they put their big paw on them so they can lick some more. They do the same to the baby goats, which is why they're tied. Everyone is closely supervised during interactions right now.
