Southern Indiana Holla Back

I hope to make it on June 7th, right now I am planning to be there. I still don't have all my garden planted and I need to build fence. With the relocation, I also need to build a lot of breeding pens, so as long as my work is caught up, I should be able to take a break for a while and get there.

Is anyone bringing chicks to sell? I am hatching a lot of bantams right now and considered bringing some to sell. They are all separated by breed so are pure, but my largefowl are all running together until I can get them separated.

If anyone would like crossbred largefowl hatching eggs, I will sell for eating egg price ($3.00/ doz.) Some could be pure, but only by chance.

Matt_ I just read an article by you in a chicken mag ! I hope you come to the meet. I am bringin some chicks. I think everyone is bringing some birds.
I hope you all come to the meet!!

I am in central Indiana, a small town called Brazil. We just got Bantams last summer and my son is going to show some in 4-H this yr. My first experience with hatching was a month ago and hatched 12 eggs out of 13 and so far everyone is doing great. We raise meat goats and let a few chickens free range and they love sleeping with the goats and climbing on their backs. Several times I have went to the barn early morn to milk and feed baby goats and will find them asleep on a goats back.

Hi Angela,

I don't live too far from you .. we are probably equal distances from Terre Haute. Did you get much rain the other night?

Boy did we! We lost our power for 15 hrs, our county was on red alert and 2 roads near me broke apart and the others were under water. Just glad there wasn't any emergency, we finally did get out though and went to my parent's to take baths and get something to eat. I was worried about my chicks as I have some still under lights, but everyone survived, thankfully. Where are you? I am 30 minutes from Terre Haute.

I'm in Fairbanks. We didn't get it as bad as many people (still have electricity). Our only problem was related to the amount of water that ended up in our basement. It took out the electrical panel on our furnace. Since we have a heat pump, it means no air conditioning until we replace the electrical panel and motor.

Considering the many people that lost their homes, farmers that are losing their crops, etc., I feel we were very blessed.
