(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, we bought my in laws place and there were already chickens almost a year ago.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
15
(3) What breeds do you have?
We have 6 brown hens, a pair of adult silkies and 7 5 month old young silkies.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
It gives us a reason to get outside and watching them run around just warms my soul!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We have a 17 month old boy and one on the way so I'm basically working on this new mom thing. I picked up bird watching while on my mat leave.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm a nurse and my husband does underground locates. We have a little boy, older dog and cat, and a couple cows. We love to spend time outside in the gardens or going for walks around the pond/woods. My in laws live on the property and have been here for 30 years so they're a big help with the upkeep of the property. My son loves bubbles!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I came across this site yesterday when I was doing a last ditch search on how to help our poor Brooster whom I was sure was dying. Now I'd like to find more ways to keep our sweet chickens healthy and happy.
