Soy-Free Chicken Feed

There has been a lot of interest in soy-free feed. As I have quite a few birds in my flock, I found a little mill that will produce a custom mix for me by the ton. If you check my website I am now offering individual 50 lb bags for sale. I can ship, or if you live in Oregon or Washington you can pick up your order at the farm.

To get "certified organic" instead of naturally grown you can double that, believe it or not. Ugghh, I wish you were in upstate NY.

This is my project for the weekend, going to feed stores in Lafayette and Vernon and hoping someone will take a recipe I found off the internet and mix it for me! Or at least order feed in special from Countryside Naturals. Oh well, a girl can dream!

Ooooh... does your recipe happen to be wheat-free as well as soy- free? DH is highly allergic to wheat. I can't find any commercial pellets or mash that is both.

Oh, gee... the cost of shipping 50lbs accross the country would probably send me to the poor-house!

You might try getting a co-op of buyers together and talking to a local mill to see if they'll make up the recipe you want. Some mills will sell by the half ton, which sounds like a lot if you only have a few birds to feed, but if you find two or three other farmers to share the cost it might be very doable.
