I want to get some chickens for my back yard but I keep getting told that its illegal and that I need like a couple of acres for them to live at all

:thun

If it's not legal in your zoning area, it's just not legal.

But you don't necessarily need acres to have some backyard chickens. Acreage has nothing to do with whether it's legal or not.

Have you researched your local livestock regulations yourself?

Find out what the exact ordinance for your town says, maybe there's a way you can still get some chickens.

Lots of people have chickens in thier backyard. Check alittle further into ordinances and such. Probably want to read it for yourself though,

Lots of people just assume its illegal, but it may not be.

My urban flock of 3 is happily living in my urban backyard. We don't have a huge lot & they have plenty of space. Space isn't the issue as much as zoning. My city is zoned for hens but doesn't permit roosters (most won't).

Thanks guys. Dang! I just looked into it and I can't have chickens here... hhhhmmmm
