What are the space 'requirements' per chicken for standard breeds. They will only be confined to coop from about 10pm to 6am, and will be free ranged in the yard or a large run the rest of the time. And are laying boxes included in the space reccomended? I keep reading 2 ft per chicken, and then 4 ft per chicken. I know more is always best but just wondering. I don't have a ton of space to have a big big coop, mostly garden and trees.

It's 4 sq for LF and 2 sq for banty's. If the run isn't covered and/or they don't have access to other shelter when free ranging I'd go bigger because it can get nasty if the weather keeps them confined to the coop for days on end.

Got it. Thanks

I was confused for a bit there. They will have a large covered patio to get under, but all in all I think I may have to rehome two of my chicks when they get older

I got four of them, just in case one died, or one was a rooster, but my coop only fits two hens. And I am definately no good at constructing anything.
