They love them. My chickens seem to eat squash next day. Maybe it softens some? The eat insides and a layer of flesh. Next day another layer. Repeat until there’s just a husk.

I just cut mine open and plop it on the ground. They love it! and you will be amazed that the only part left over is the thin crust.
