what is a good starting number for chickens? I'm getting 30 but people keep saying it's a lot

that's good. my friend has like 50 and that's my goal but I figured it's best to start with less. I also need time to get to know them all ofc.

do you need a pond for them? we have one, and by that I mean there is a mud puddle in our yard that never goes away. we will probably get a kiddy pool
