I think personality matters more than breed imo
One of my orpingtons hated eggs, and would run out of the nest-box whenever she layed one…
My other chicken likes to crack eggs and eat them, and another hides eggs from us so she can sit on them for hours!

Have they ever hatched chicks before?

No, we dont have space for anymore chickens, even though i really want more. We definitely cant risk hatching a male either, and i'd get too attached to rehome/cull males

Silkies, orpingtons basically any heritage breeds are great for that! Sadly, very few eggs from them though
