a year? I go through 1 bag layer feed in 2.5 months with 5 chickens

I think I'm fine with layer feed right now since I have all layers but I'll see if once I get a job (which is hopefully very soon) I can start buying all flock. my dad buys my feed and I don't think he would be willing to spend more on the all flock especially since I'm getting a bunch more chickens soon (which is completely valid)

I go through around a bag and a half of the feed a month with my 6 children. But the JGs eat well over double what a normal chicken eats. The Brahmas probably eat around the equivalent of 1.5 chickens

I also mix a bit of scratch grains in and the chickens free range so they eat plants and bugs. now that it's winter they go through it faster. they also get eggs almost every morning so I think that's another reason I go through it slower. and it's probably closer to 2 months not 2.5

unmedicated chick starter is cheaper than most layer pellets and is pretty much the exact same as all flock just a crumble. I think it was $15 for a 50 bag of chick starter?

I just bought some. it was like 12 or 13 dollars for 50 pounds. if so that's amazing

In the summer we were going though a bag every 1.5 months. It’s crazy how much they can get from free ranging

Oh wow that is cheap. If you do transition them over make sure to do it slowly and provide oyster shells the whole time so they figure out how to get the calcium they need
