Crossing the Road
yep lol. more lessons please lolNot a guessing game if you're smart. You need to know what genes your birds have so then you'll know what they'll produce. That's the work.
So many people people have no clue. They throw two birds together and see what hatches then try to figure out what they have.
That's putting you in the dark and always trying to catch up. Not the best way. Breeding projects are mixing genes and then your mixing birds with mixed genes so that produces a lot of possible combinations. That makes some of what you want and some that you don't want. I call those throw aways just cause they're not used to move forwards. Sometimes it can be like 1/2 are keepers or 1 out of 4 but it can also.get 1 out of 16 or 1 out of 64 or.... get the point?
You have to produce a lot to get a few that you want. I try not to get where the odds are to great so I'm not hatching a thousand chicks that I have to have a plan B for.
Hatching blindly or without knowing the outcome will have you knee deep in birds to eat but not to get to your goal with.
Complicated huh?
