Not my pic, someone asked in a thread whether they were BOs and i dont know what they are…
I dont know if u know, just dont know who to ask lol

Really?
Whats the difference between hatchery and my BOs? They look really different!

Thanks!
In the states we have the APA (American Poultry Association) they set the SOP (Standard Of Perfection) for each breed. What they're supposed to look like.
Idk where you're from 🙄 but your standard would be different. The other part is here in the states we have lots of hatcheries that sell chicks.
Our hatcheries are trying to make $$$ but don't care much about producing birds that fit the standard. Over there, over here both with hatcheries and breeders that want to breed quality birds there's the main traits they make sure they have. For Buff Orpingtons of course the buff color. Skin color, white. Comb type, single. Beyond that stuff hatcheries don't worry about size, shape, tail carrage etc etc.
So your answer is your birds have a different standard of how they should be. We have a different standard and then hatcheries that don't mind their birds slipping from the standard as long as they have the noticeable characteristics.
With buff Orpingtons we've had them for like forever. For the longest time buff were the only variety most hatcheries offered.
With their decades of breeding our hatchery buffs aren't very good compared to proper bred ones or to the English bred type like you have. Smaller. Not with the bulky fluffy look.
Just good ol egg laying pet type.
