I liked Yellowstone but it is not for kids. Heck it ain't even for teens.
They made two prequels though. 1883, I loved it. And then 1923, it wasn't as good as 1883 but I liked it better than Yellowstone. 1923 was supposed to have a second season. They are done filming but it hasn't been released yet. That's why I still got my subscriptions going.

It's about a huge ranch in Montana that's been in the same family since the 1880s.
It's mostly about the struggles of the ranch and trying to hang on to it.

I think you could handle it. Just find 1883 and start with it. It's only one season so 8 or 10 episodes. It's about the original family's journey and finding the land.
