Well, I went to let the chicks out in their run this morning and there was a small bird trapped in it. Every time this little thing landed on the ground, the chicks would swarm it and start pecking it. I went in and chased it around a bit and it finally got out, but my question is - is this going to be a problem? I'm assuming the little bird got up earlier than me and wanted the free food. Should I wire up the hole the bird came in through?

Sounds like an obvious course of action. I frequently get birds in my chicken coops. They don't bother me but, I am aware that it is possible for some avian diseases to be transferred to the chickens. It may or may not be likely this could happen depending on where you live. I have never had any chicken issues I could trace back to wild birds though. The chickens will kill them if they get the chance...let them work it out! LOL
