I am in need of a special home for a layer flock of chickens (9 hens and 1 Roo). These are very special and loved chickens. This is one of the hardest things I have done (having to find them a home). These chickens were chickens I raised for the school, where I teach at, and are very friendly, handled, and, in general, a bit spoiled. I am leaving the profession and due to where I live unable to have them at my house, nor do I feel leaving them at the school to be in their best interest.
The flock is made up of 1 Plymouth Rock Roo (Colonal, who is saluted by students each morning) and 9 hens (4 Plymouth Rock, 2 Barred Plymouth, 1 Red Production, 1 Buff Orp, and 1 SLW) (named as follows Brittany, Tiffany, Heather, Monica, Chicken Bok Bok, Jeff, Reba, Dolly, and Ester). They are all 1-1.5 years old. The ladies are constant layers of Large to Extra Large eggs and I average 8 eggs daily (this week I collected 60+ eggs), additionally they laid fairly well over winter with no heat or supplemental light. They are fairly bougie and are use to daily lunch left overs, worms collected from our compost, and other offers from kids. They are all friendly and will happily sit in laps for scratches, but Colonal is protective of his ladies if they are vocal about being handled for wellness checks. Colonal has never offered to be aggressive towards me nor students, minus one specific student.
Looking for only the best of homes. I truly love them more than my husband, on most days. Will help with transport to said perfect new home. Note they have not been cooped, only free ranging when supervised due to hawks and eagles in the area of our school.
Please message for more information.
