Speckled Egg? Is my ISA Brown ok?

Hello!
I went out to the coop this morning and Amelia had just laid an egg (I think it is her first) and it was brown with white patches on it. Am I giving them too much calcium? There was also a very small speck of blood on it which I’m not overly concerned about since my girls are young and are just entering they’re 1st lay. Is she ok? I’m feeding layer feed and I give free choice oyster shells.

Pretty egg! Yes it’s fine. It happens time to time. Especially new layer getting all the kinks out of the production line.

Are they rough in texture...do they wash off?
Could just be a new layer glitch, egg machine not tuned in yet.

'Speckled' eggs can happen for several different reasons...very few, if any, of which are a 'problem'.

Can be caused by:
Excess or uneven pigment coating.
Excess or uneven cuticle(bloom).
Excess calcium deposits.
Porous eggs can appear speckled.
Some birds lay them consistently, some only once in awhile.
The pigment or bloom can change appearance when wet, then change back when dry again.

As long as bird is getting a good diet and is healthy in every other way, it is no cause for concern.

Probably calcium deposits then.
Give her time, it can take up to a month for things to smooth out.
