I have a Barred Rock and 3 Golden Laced Wyandottes all Hens and all laying brown to very light tan eggs. They are 6 months old and today one laid a brown egg with dark speckles all over it. I do not know who laid it but it is the first speckled egg I have seen. I wiped it off with the egg wipes and yep....it is a speckled egg. Is this normal and who would have most likely laid it...Lulu the BR or one of the GLW?

This is normal. Even though my Welsummers lay the most beautiful speckled eggs, my Buckeyes with plain brown eggs sometimes have speckles as well. I'm afraid it is just as likely for the BR to lay it as a Wyandotte, in fact, depending on the shade of egg, they may both lay them in a lifetime. Some birds like Welsummers just consistently lay them.

Thank you for the quick response....I was shocked when I found it! But pleased as well.
