Hi again, is this one I have to put inside my bator? It has the time on top then the temp and the third reading is the humidity.

You can change the top to show inside temp and the other to show outside temp. It doesn't have to show the time. Now, just so you know, mine was not accurate, so I hope yours is better. However, it's acting fine and is pretty accurate today. Makes me worry.

Why don't they come with instructions??? :thun This is confusing enough for a beginner. All it has is a little sheet showing how to reset the time, temp and humidity, why would I reset it?? I am very confused over this. No, I mean it shows to push the buttons once or twice "to reset" but it doesn't tell you if you can set it to a max or anything like that. It didn't even tell me to put the probe inside, I did figure that out for myself but it should come with explicit instructions for us "dummies".

Yes, I am trying to Kim but this is getting frustrating as I do not know what I am doing here. I am trying to do a dry run so I know when to add more water and how often and how true the temp will run. I want to start this now but since I have puppies due the 20 or 21 of January I think I had best take care of them first then get going on this. I even planted some basil in pots today, I am getting anxious to everything now.

You can have it to read in & out temps and to have it read the humidity you have to put the whole thing inside the bator. The probe in the water wiggler will be the outside temp reading. I had to ask too when I first started using it. Good Luck with your hatch.

I keep hearing about water wigglers and don't have a clue as to what they are or where to get them. ha ha Maybe I am biting off more than I can chew here?

So by putting the whole thing in the bator will it not stop the turner from moving?

Oh no, you'll do fine. You can get water wigglers at Walmart. They are in the cheap junk toy isle, hanging on the wall in a little net bag thing. If you can't find one, let me know and I'll ship one to you. It's good to set up your bator and give it a try. Which one did you get?

I got the Hova-Bator 1588 with the auto-turner. Now I have put the accurite inside the bator but don't have a wiggler yet. I put a straw down inside the vent hole on top the bator to feed water to the bottom if needed. It seems a bit overwhelming to me right now let me tell you.

Carrie,
You are going to do just fine. There are so many experienced hatchers on here to help guide you. I'm sure they will log on and help. Just keep plugging along with it.

How exciting...new puppies! What kind?

I love basil. I think I put it in almost everything I cook. Yum!
