I received two Australop "warmers" when I ordered my chicks. They are now 18 weeks. I can't figure out if they are roosters or hens, they do look different from the one hen that I did order, larger combs and very red. I haven't heard any attempt of crowing. What age do roosters find their voice?

Here are recent pictures. They are 18 weeks.

Look at the difference between them!

Does anyone think the Australorps are roos?

Time will tell for sure. Some take longer to get the crow going than others. Once they start the magical symphony the off switch is broke, that's for sure.

Lurky, I do have a third chick but she is shy and I couldn't get a picture, but she looks like yours - very small comb and not red at all...

You got some nice packing peanuts. Two girls there. 100% certain! Roo's would have MUCH bigger combs or be just 8 weeks old with combs like thoes you have on the girls there. Plus, they have no roo feathers. I bet they will lay first too. That's what's the comb is telling me at least!

My opinion they are hens at that age ...I don't see any saddles feathers that would mean roos either....Some hens get larger combs and wattles......some hens just mature sooner then others...
