Speckled Sussex, not convinced it’s a he

What happened to the pointy feathers? I thought roosters had all pointy feathers.

Pointy hackle feathers do happen, but often a bit later.

All that white in the chest if the give away in Speckled Sussex. Add in that large red comb....You do have a cockerel there.

Pointed saddle feathers don't grow in until much later. 16-18 weeks at the earliest in most breeds.

Handsome cockerel. Most likely, his behavior isn't noticeably "roo-ish" yet due to the fact he hasn't hit maturity. Give it another few, to several weeks.

My McMurray speckled Sussex have been the most generally ambiguous birds I've ever had at this age but I'm pretty sure this is a cockerel and a pullet. Unfortunately the pullet has an extra toe.
