Speckled sussex or Wellsummer? PLEASE HELP

Some chicks do have pink legs but as they mature, the yellow pigment will pop up within a week of age. It varies from one chick to another.

To the OP, that chick looks like SS due to the faint white tipping. Unless there is a flaw in the genes that some Welsummers DO get those white tipped feathers anywhere on their bodies, particuarly the wings and tails. If this chick happened to be a pullet laying terra cotta eggs, still has the white tips or markings, its a poor example of a Welsummer but neverthanless, they would make terrific EE projects!

We have to wait and see what this chick will mature as a SS or Welsummer or Brown Leghorn.

Fshinggirl, that chick on the left is a bit too dark to be a Welsummer and they should have the chimunk markings, in all three colors such as dark brown, black and white/creme on a tan body.
