Hi ya'll!
I'm new to BYC but have been enjoying all the great information from everyone for quite a while now

. I recently got three "pullets" to add some color to my flock, a silver laced wyandotte, light Brahma, and a speckled sussex. The Sussex is a little older than 4 weeks (about a week older than the other two) and from what I have read, shows some signs of being a roo. I know it's still way too early to tell, but I thought I'd post some pictures to get any input and to just say hi!
Thanks!

Are you 100% sure these are pure bred?? Not Mixed? They are young---so its hard to tell from the pics.

I think the Sussex is purebred
This variety usually isn't evaluated for quality til 10-12 weeks because they are a tricolor bird. Give the bird time
Best, Karen

I agree!! After studying the light-brahma----its at that ugly feather stage, but has some markings that makes me feel it is probably pure too-----the Silver lace is probably right too----in a few more weeks you can tell better. If I was a betting person I would say that the SS and the SL are pullets----the Brahma---not sure yet.

None of them are screaming cockerel. They all seem purebred, as Riverman said. The second picture shows the SLW stretching his wing. Is here a prominent gap in the wing feathers? If so, probably not a pullet.

Thanks, there doesn't seem to be a very big gap in the wing feathers. Is this a rooster characteristic? Also, all three seemed to grow their tail feathers very early.. Unlike my previous roosters who were tailless for quite a while! I'm hoping that means pullet.
