SpeckledHen Suedettes and Barred Rocks (PICS)

Cynthia - I was actually very happy to see Meg's babies. I really wanted some of hers. Just so everyone knows, Meg is a Buff Orpington / Rhode Island Red cross (right Cynthia) and the Dad was Mr. Suede. I just love them. They are all doing very well this morning!!

Yes, Meg's sire was a big, dark RIR and her mama was an exhibition size, i.e. HUGE, Buff Orpington. She's a sweetie and an excellent layer. Plus she's about the only other hen I have besides the Blue Orpingtons that is large enough to be in with Suede. Those babies ought to be very large birds.

After reading this I think the guy at the feed store messed me up. My BR he told me had classic female traits seems to have classic male traits!

*wanders off for coffee mumbling about how I want suede babies but no incubator no one broody...maybe I just go to GA and hang out in the yard with Suede*

GREAT JOB, Ed (and everyone else)!!!!! Those babies are absolutely adorable! It's funny when you think about all the parties involved in getting these little darlings here. First, Suede had to do his manly job and the hens had to produce some fertile eggs. Then, Cyn had to wrap them extra super good to get them to Ed. Ed had to build a home made bator that worked well plus keep temp and humidity correct and the babies had to do their part, of course!
